Beautiful Etsy: Daffodils

Oh how I love daffodils! They've been my favorite flower for years. What endears them to me, I think, is how their pretty blooms are some of the first signs of spring. In Michigan, winter can feel like it drags on and on. When the daffodils start blooming, you know that spring really is on its way. No more snow, no more ice, just sweet smelling warm air, sunshine and spring rain.

Brody Bear

will never pass on a good road trip... and will cry and look at you with sad eyes if you leave him behind...

Beautiful Etsy

I have a confession to make, I've never bought anything from Etsy... I happily browse, collect favorite sellers and items, but I haven't ever bought anything. I feel like a fraud- loving Etsy- but not buying anything, you know? lol, I guess one day there will be something I can't live without (or I will have more spending money!) In the meantime, I will keep collecting fav's and admiring all of the beautiful things for sale.
One of my favorite of favorite sellers on Etsy is irenesuchocki of isphotography . How amazing are these photos? (click on each photo for the link on Etsy)

I love the pretty pops of pastels, and the interesting subjects in her photos. "Looking for Love," on top, is my favorite. :)

Nashville Flood 2010

The last 3 days have been crazy, weird, eye-opening and sobering. Torrential rain caused flooding all over middle TN. We normally get something like 12 inches of rain from May through July and we had over 13 inches of rain from Saturday to Sunday night.
On Saturday night I was driving back from Atlanta and heard on the radio that 24 was closed up ahead of me. I called some friends to find out what was going on, and realized I might have trouble getting home. Here is what the highway looked like just miles ahead of where I was:

I got off the highway about a hour from home and found my way around the city. It took me about 2 and a half hours to get home. I was so glad to have made it! I was considering finding a place to stop overnight instead of trying to get home, but I'm really glad I didn't. It rained over 8 more inches overnight and I might have had a harder time getting home on Sunday. Many of the roads heading into my neighborhood were completely underwater on Sunday and still are. One of the water treatment plants in town has flooded and the other is in danger of running out of water. I stopped at the store last night to get some groceries and the shelves were pretty bare.
Hundreds of people have lots their homes, and many have had trouble getting out of their neighborhoods because of the flooding. It is sobering to see something so tragic happening so close to home. No one expected something like this to happen, and the loss of lives and homes is so sad.

Let Garage Sale Season Begin!

I am so excited to start garage sale-ing! There have been a few here and there so far, but not any really good sales. This weekend is a big sale not too far away, Watertown's Mile long. We're leaving at 7 am tomorrow, and I have high hopes. My wish list is long, and I'm ready to bargain!

Colorful Mirror Project

I bought it at a garage sale for $4 and painted it black. It's made of molded plastic. It originally hung over my vintage mantle when I was doing a black and white damask theme in my bedroom. Now I have a new plan for it. I'm going to paint it a bright cheerful color and hang it in my living room. Here are some pictures that inspired me:
