Beautiful Etsy: Darrielles ClayArt

Cute green-blue mugs! Yes please!

The texture on the bottom and on the handle would make them so nice to hold too.  Just perfect for coffee and milk on a cold morning.  See them here!

Pottery Barn ideas

I have a frame I've been playing around with for awhile.  It's pretty big and ornate.  This is one of my ideas:

It looks pretty easy.  I have some fun binder clips that would be great for this.

I've also been thinking ahead to Christmas, and I'm thinking about painting a canvas with this NOEL design.  Maybe in blue and silver?

Beautiful Etsy: ItzFitz Yarn Wreaths

I'm not a huge wreath girl, but lately I've seen so many cute ones!  These I found on Etsy, and I love that they're not quite seasonal.

Emily Henderson's office chair

Emily Henderson (2010 HGTV Design Star Winner) has the best blogging spot.  I would love to curl up in this blue wing-back chair with a hot drink and type away.  I don't know what makes it so cool to me, but the moment I saw it on her blog I had to share it!

Butter came to stay...

This weekend, my pal brother, Butter came for a visit.  I have a lot of nicknames for my brothers, but butter is Ben's oldest one.  ;)  He doesn't like it, I'm sure...

Brody and I picked him up from the airport on Friday night, and we spent the evening watching tv, walking Brody and eating Taco Soup.  Brody looved having another human to sit on.  Ben kindly brought me apples from the north (they smell glorious!).

Saturday we went to breakfast at Fido.  I had fried eggs, ham and cafe' au lait.  Ben had steak and eggs and a latte.  Then a walk at Edwin Warner.  Where we got lost and sang "All I want for breakfast is cornbread and coffee..." with a reggae band there for a benefit event.  Even though we were tired, we still managed to go play laser tag with some friends, take a long drive, and have dinner with my neighbors.  It was a fun day, but boy, we were tired in the end.

Sunday morning was sunny and warm.  After church and a fun lunch with friends we picked up Brody and headed to the dog park.  All too soon it was 4 o'clock and Ben needed to be at the airport to catch his flight back to Chicago.

Brody and I were worn out last night.  After his bath and haircut he plopped down by the couch and didn't move until bedtime, and I barely worked on some laundry.

Fabric Covered Binder

I am a binder girl all the way.  I have binders for everything: coupons, magazine pages, exercise routines, recipes, craft ideas, my postcard collection...

I really like the recycled paper ones at Target, but I have a bunch of the plain plastic ones too.  To dress them up I thought I'd try covering them with fabric.  Just winging it, I managed to cover one last night with a combination of fabric, heat n'bond and fabric glue.  Here are some pictures of the process.

I ironed all of the folds before I ironed the heat n'bond tape, and I folded the edge of the fabric under the metal binder thing so that it would look neat.  I opted to cover the whole inside too, because I knew I would have to cover up at least half of the pocket anyways.  I hope it stays together!  So far, it's pretty sturdy.  It's not adhered to the binder in any way, so I might try and take it off and wrap the binder in some batting and put the cover back on.  I like it enough the way it is though, so I may not even try that.  by the way, this is my bill paying binder.  :)  I keep all of my current bills in folders inside and a calendar of when they are all due.

Ruche for fall

I love this outfit in Ruche's fall look book!

The ruffles, and the combination of cream, blush and brown is wonderful.  I would probably wear different shoes, but other than that it's something I would definitely wear.

Fill in the Blank Friday!!

1.   The first thing I do in the morning to start my day is  put warm clothes on and take Brody for a walk.

2.  Today I wish I was  Shopping.  I've got a craving for cute clothes.

3.  If I had an extra $100 in my bank account today I'd buy some cute fall shoes and clothes.

4.  Tomorrow I am planning on going to Goodwill, hanging out with my sweet friend Laurie, and teaching my 2-yr olds at church in the evening.

5.  Two things that don't go together are headaches and brain freeze. I learned my lesson yesterday with a few ill-fated sips of a sonic slush.

6.  Something I can never pass up at the grocery store is  pita or tortilla chips and something to dip them in.

7.  The last time I tried something new was   this week when I created a Tumblr account.  I'm using it to keep track of pictures and blog posts I want to remember.  I like it much better than evernote.

S and P

I have a cute little shelf hanging in my kitchen, and it's holding my salt and pepper shakers. Someday I'll add a few more, but I'll have to really love them because I don't want a huge collection.  Just a cute little shelf with a few cute sets.

Salt and pepper shakers can be so fun.  They come in pairs and that just makes them cuter! I like ceramic ones the best. Here's the "two peas in a pod" set that I have:
Two Peas in a Pod
Mom gave me this set for Easter a couple years ago:
Easter Chick and Bunny
I would love to run across a set of birds like one of these on vacation.  They would make a great souvenir and be so cute on my shelf.

Seven Myths Single Women Believe

This article on Boundless caught my eye today. Seven Myths Single Women Believe, by Suzanne Hadley. If you're a woman and you're single, I would strongly encourage you to read it. There is truth in this article.

The lies we believe:

1. God will give me a husband when I'm ready.

"...many single women believe that procuring a spouse is somehow performance based. If I were just godly enough, the Lord would give me a husband."

2. God views me more as a useful tool than a beloved child.

"It's true that God may set us apart for a season of singleness, but that doesn't mean He is indifferent to our dreams."

3. When it's the right guy, I'll just know.

"Too many couples over spiritualize the decision of whom they marry. Instead of realizing that God leads us by providing wisdom and allowing us to make our own choices, those couples wait for a 'mystical experience' that will tell them what to do."

4. When I get married, then my life will begin.

“A desire to be a wife and mother is good, but it does not let us off the hook from living fully right now.”

5. Marriage will or will not meet my deepest needs.

“Each view contains some truth. God created woman for man as a remedy for loneliness (Genesis 2:18). And God's grace is sufficient for every circumstance (2 Corinthians 12:9). But marriage alone cannot satisfy a woman's deepest needs. Sarah says: "A very wise lady once told me that she has had her loneliest times since she has been married." Neither can our relationship with Jesus meet the needs that He intended other humans to satisfy.”

6. There must be something wrong with me. If I could just figure out what it is, I could fix it and guys would start showing interest.

“The truth is, most of the things I suspect are lacking in me, fall under the category of charm and beauty. Scripture says, "Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised" (Proverbs 31:30). The things I should be concerned about improving are spiritual in nature. Am I submitting to Christ? Am I manifesting the fruit of the Spirit? Do I have a gentle and quiet spirit? The right kind of man will be attracted to these qualities.”

7. The older I get, the less likely it is that I will find someone.

“As you pass the average marrying age, it can be tempting to panic. It's helpful to remember Paul's words in Romans 11:36: "For from him and through him and to him are all things." All things. As you cultivate godly attitudes and avoid damaging lies, you allow the Lord to pour out the things He has for you. That way, when the right guy comes along, you'll be ready.”
